Work Drama

Yesterday as I was leaving Target I get a call from the teacher I subbed for on Tuesday. This is one of the first teachers I worked with as a TA at H school. She called to ask if I could sub for her on the 17th, which I could. She then wanted to ask me a question.

Go ahead!

She asked if I didn't get along with the principal there. This principal is new to the school (her first year) and I never worked under her. But she is the one who got me on the sub-list for LAUSD. A letter she wrote asking them to get me on the list. The story is that my ex-boss who is still at the school asked her to do this so then they could hire me to "teach" PE one day a week. Right after I got on the sub list, though, I got calls from schools for possibly a full time job, and how could I turn that down, right? Well - that didn't work out, and now I'm subbing... and apparently she is pissed off about this. She (the principal) hasn't said a word to me. I haven't really subbed at H school very much at all, actually. Maybe 5 times?

So the teacher who called me yesterday, we'll call her V, tells me that the SAA (who sets up subs and whatnot) told her that she couldn't use me in the future. This was back when she was going to use me for last Tuesday. She felt awkward about it, because she wanted me and she didn't understand why she couldn't use me. The SAA didn't go into details with her about it, but did mention PE and whatnot. V wanted to clear it up with me, which was fine.

The point is - if the lady has a problem with me? Tell ME. Don't go around telling people that they can't use me and whatnot. I have at least 2, maybe 3, more days scheduled at that school. IF she decides to be upfront about it and talk to me, fine. I won't work there. BUT? I'm not sure the teachers will be happy with that. I get a lot more work from Lim school - and I know the principal there loves me. SO I'm not too worried. PLUS I'll pass out my card at other schools and see how that goes.

That all said? I have 12 days scheduled to work in February! That's awesome. For me. It means I can easily make my car payment in February, pay my credit card, AND pay my mom back for some of what I owe her. I might not have much left for myself, but it'll be nice to pay off the debt I've come to accumulate. Of course I could get even more work in February - OR some could get cancelled (as they are trainings and the district might cancel them).

Oh - and they decided to NOT fire any teachers mid-year, so that's NICE to hear. Doesn't mean I'll get a job in the fall, but I won't have to fight for sub days. Too much.
